> The Guernsey Press covered the Deputy Scorecard launch on the morning it went live, leading on the anti-GST finding and on how hard the island's own published facts are to find.

The [Guernsey Deputy Scorecard](https://www.bridgeheadcommunications.com/insights/2026/08/23/anti-gst-rebellion-real-promises-were-not) went live on 24 August, and the Guernsey Press ran it in its politics coverage the same morning.

The paper picked out three findings: that the anti-GST rebellion was real but the anti-GST promises largely were not, that one States member has spoken 325 words in the Assembly, and that half of all manifesto promises made have yet to meet a vote that could test them. It also noted the launch had been held back so that deputies could see and comment on the findings about them first.

Much of the piece is about how scattered the source material is. Recorded crime had to be rebuilt from 11 overlapping annual reports and has never been published as a rate per head of population. A&E performance sits in a contract appendix. Life expectancy sits in a wellbeing bulletin. On the economy, the Scorecard shows real growth averaging well under 1% a year in the decade to 2023, with the real economy shrinking by 2% in 2023.

**None of this is hidden, exactly. It is just scattered, inconsistent, and effectively out of reach for anyone with a job. AI is what closed that gap for me in days. It should not have needed to.
