# How do your deputies score? Bailiwick Express takes the Scorecard to its readers

> Bailiwick Express walked its readers through the Deputy Scorecard ahead of the GST debate returning to the States on 30 September.

Bailiwick Express covered the Scorecard in detail on 25 August, in a piece by Laura Clayton framed around the question islanders can now answer for themselves: how do your deputies score?

It sets out what the site does, that 37 deputies were elected in June 2025 with another added at this year's by-election, and that between them they decide everything from the minimum age for a nose piercing to the annual budget for health, education and policing. It records that nobody commissioned the site and nobody is paying for it.

It also carries the finding we consider the important one, which is not who broke a promise but how few promises were written in a way that a vote could ever test, and it closes on housing: 153 manifesto promises made between them, 60 ever tested by a recorded vote, and 93 that have simply never come up.

**Twelve deputies campaigned against GST and three of them wrote something a vote can test. Read together, those manifestos were a masterclass in saying just enough to be heard as anti-GST while committing to almost nothing.
