Andrew Sparrow is a British journalist and senior political correspondent at The Guardian, where he writes the Politics Live blog covering Westminster as it happens. He joined the parliamentary lobby in 1994 and previously worked as a political correspondent for Thomson Regional Newspapers, the Western Mail, the Daily Mail, and the Daily Telegraph. He won the Press Awards Political Journalist of the Year in 2011, recognised for his live-blogging during the general election, and was nominated for the Orwell Prize in 2010. His Westminster political reporting regularly encompasses health and NHS policy as it moves through Parliament. He is also the author of Obscure Scribblers: A History of Parliamentary Journalism (2003).
