Biography

Lord Strasburger raised concerns about delays in the Secretary of State's decision on an Equality and Human Rights Commission code of practice during a Lords debate on 26 February 2026. He criticised the government for taking five months to make a binary decision and expressed concern about the impact on organisations awaiting the code to ensure legal compliance. His contribution was a single speech expressing frustration with the decision-making process.

I thank the Minister for his reply. By law, the Secretary of State has only two choices: to either lay the code before Parliament or send it back to the EHRC. She has dithered for five months over this binary decision about 11 pages that are at issue.
