The Lord Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham raised concerns about learning disability and autism provision during a debate on pupil absenteeism in May 2025. Drawing on his experience as a foster carer in Nottingham, he highlighted that children with complex needs benefit from smaller, integrated learning environments and pressed the Minister on what assessment the Government had made of how increased numbers of children with significant special educational needs in large classes was affecting absenteeism rates.
