Biography

Amelia Nagoski, DMA, is an assistant professor and coordinator of music at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she conducts choirs and teaches courses in music appreciation, theory, and psychology. She holds a DMA in conducting from the University of Connecticut, an MM in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College, and a BM in music education from the University of Delaware. She is co-author, with her twin sister Emily Nagoski PhD, of the New York Times bestselling book Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle, which examines the science of stress and its particular impact on women. She regularly presents educational sessions applying communications science and psychological research for professional musicians, including a programme titled 'Beyond Burnout Prevention: Embodied Wellness for Conductors'. The book, published in the UK by Ebury/Penguin, has been cited in UK press coverage of workplace wellbeing and health.
