Who Prof Faye Ruddock is

Professor Faye Ruddock DL is Professor and Chair of Health Equity at the University of Greater Manchester, and the Founding Chair of the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN), a national Black-led community interest company she established in 2017 following her doctoral research into health disparities facing Black people in Greater Manchester. She is a nurse by background and holds a doctorate in health inequities; she co-authored 'Decolonising Public Health through Praxis: The Impact on Black Health in the UK' (Palgrave, 2022) with Ornette D. Clennon. She serves as NHS England's North West Independent Chair for Anti-racism in Nursing and Midwifery, co-chairs Greater Manchester's Maternity and Neonatal Equity group, and has chaired national advisory groups including the Diabetes UK Health Inequalities Commission and NHS England's Black CVD Advisory Group. CAHN, under her founding leadership, provides the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Black Health and is a named partner in the NIHR Maternity Inequalities Consortium.
