Biography
Professor Michael Flood is a Professor in the School of Justice at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia, where his research focuses on gender, sexuality, and interpersonal violence. He completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology and a PhD in Gender and Sexuality Studies at the Australian National University. He has published widely on men and masculinities, violence against women, violence prevention, male heterosexuality, fathering, and pornography, with over 48 journal articles, 30 book chapters, and 39 commissioned research monographs. He is the author of 'Engaging Men and Boys in Violence Prevention' (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019) and the lead editor of 'The International Encyclopedia of Men and Masculinities' (2007). He has spoken at UK health settings, including as a keynote at the CNWL Domestic Abuse Conference hosted by Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust in December 2023, and has argued that engaging men and boys as active participants is essential to the primary prevention of domestic and sexual violence.
