Lord Watson has engaged extensively with children and young people's mental health through 17 debate speeches, particularly contributing to scrutiny of the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill across multiple stages. His contributions have emphasised whole-school approaches to mental wellbeing, support for vulnerable groups including young carers and pupils with special educational needs, and early intervention through schemes such as Young Futures hubs. He has also engaged with related social care and support issues, including unpaid carers' rights and the accessibility of school breakfast provision for disabled pupils.
