Biography

Dr Andrew Hill is a Senior Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Liverpool. He graduated from Oxford University, trained at St Mary's Hospital London, and gained his PhD at the University of Amsterdam. He specialises in research on access to medicines, the safety and efficacy of new treatments, and the minimum costs of generic drug manufacture. He serves as a consultant adviser to the World Health Organisation on HIV/AIDS and is a member of the WHO Fair Pricing Committee, advising countries on controlling medicine prices. He has been quoted in UK press coverage on NHS drug pricing, including on pharmaceutical companies' engagement with NICE cost-effectiveness evaluations. His published work spans HIV antiretrovirals, COVID-19 treatment costs, and generic drug pricing, with papers in the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and Science.
