Who Maggie Davies is

Dr Maggie Davies is Chief Nurse at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex), having joined the Trust as Deputy Director of Nursing in 2014 from Brighton & Hove Clinical Commissioning Group, where she was Head of Primary Care Strategic Development. She holds an MSc in Palliative Care and a Doctorate in Clinical Practice from the University of Surrey, with her doctoral research examining directors of nursing perceptions of caring practices in the aftermath of the Francis Inquiry. Her clinical background includes work as a district nurse and an oncology nurse for Macmillan Cancer Support, and she holds Visiting Professor roles at both the University of Surrey and the University of Chichester. As Trust Board Safety Champion for Maternity and Neonatal Services, she has championed patient safety and nurse recruitment at UHSussex, and has spoken publicly on staff welfare and the importance of NHS nursing.
