Biography

Maggie Oldham is Chief Executive of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, appointed permanently in September 2024 after serving in the role on an interim basis from April 2024. She joined the NHS in 1982 and holds a Master's degree in Healthcare Law and Ethics, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education. Her career has focused on turning around challenged NHS organisations: she led Mid-Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust as chief executive from 2013, having joined that trust in 2010 following its care failures, and subsequently led the Isle of Wight NHS Trust from special measures to a Good CQC rating between 2017 and 2021. Before joining Blackpool, she served as Deputy Chief Executive and Chief of Recovery and Transformation at Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board. At Blackpool, she has publicly committed to addressing the trust's history of clinical quality and safety issues and has spoken out on NHS financial pressures and workforce diversity.
