Dr Amir Khan is a full-time NHS GP and partner at The Ridge Medical Practice in inner-city Bradford, one of the city's busiest primary care centres. He qualified with an honours degree in medicine (MBChB) from the University of Liverpool in 2004 and completed his GP training (MRCGP) around Merseyside, qualifying as a GP in 2009. He holds additional diplomas in Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Diabetes, and has a specialist interest in Type 2 diabetes. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at both the University of Leeds School of Medicine and the University of Bradford, and has been training GP trainees since 2011. He is widely known as the resident doctor on ITV's Lorraine and Good Morning Britain, and as a Sunday Times bestselling author; he has been publicly quoted on health inequalities, arguing that life expectancy gaps between UK postcodes constitute a national crisis requiring government action on the social determinants of health.
