Who Dr Marta Di Forti is

Professor Marta Di Forti is Professor of Drug Use, Genetics and Psychosis at the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London. She is also an Honorary Consultant Adult Psychiatrist at the Lambeth Early Intervention Community team, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. She leads the UK's first Cannabis Clinic for patients with psychosis at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and established Europe's first dedicated clinic for young people with cannabis-induced psychosis. She is the first author of three of the five most frequently cited research papers on cannabis use and psychosis, and her EU-GEI study ranked among the world's most influential scientific studies of 2019 in the Altmetric Top 100. Her research and public commentary argue that high-potency cannabis use is an independent and preventable risk factor for psychotic disorders, a position cited by the US Surgeon General and referenced in the UK and European Parliaments.
