Biography

Millie Brown is Deputy Director for Homes at the Centre for Ageing Better, an independent charitable foundation that works with national and local government, industries, and community organisations to improve how people experience ageing. She joined the organisation in May 2019 and her work focuses on the priority areas of housing and employment for older people. Before joining, she worked in policy and research roles at several local authorities, concentrating on housing issues faced by people in later life. Her academic background includes an MSc in Social Research Methods from the University of Sussex, where her research focused on the role of charities in healthy ageing; she also collaborated with Age UK to publish reports in this area. She is publicly known for arguing that the UK faces an escalating crisis of inadequate, inaccessible and unsafe housing for older people, and calls on government to make accessible, adaptable housing central to its housebuilding and housing strategy.
