Who Rebecca Siegel is
Rebecca L. Siegel, MPH, is a cancer epidemiologist and Senior Scientific Director of Surveillance Research at the American Cancer Society. She leads the ACS Surveillance Research programme, directing the production of seven Facts & Figures publications and their accompanying scientific articles. She is the lead author of the annual Cancer Statistics and annual Colorectal Cancer Statistics reports published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, regarded as the gold-standard source of US cancer burden data. Her research focuses on disparities in cancer incidence and mortality, with particular emphasis on colorectal cancer and early-onset disease. Her work contributed to the American Cancer Society's decision to lower its recommended colorectal cancer screening age from 50 to 45.
