Who Dr Sara Paparini is
Dr Sara Paparini is Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Equity at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Queen Mary University of London, where she also serves as Co-Lead of the Global Public Health Unit and social science lead for the SHARE collaborative. She is an anthropologist whose work sits at the intersection of public health, anti-racist research, and participatory methods, with a focus on intersectional health inequalities, HIV, infectious diseases, and community-led approaches to health equity. She holds an honorary contract with Barts Health NHS Trust and has carried out social research on HIV in East London hospitals and the HIV voluntary sector. Prior to joining QMUL she worked as a social scientist at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (University of Oxford), the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has been quoted in UK press on community-led research into health inequalities affecting Black African and Black Caribbean communities, arguing for an end to assumptions about who should lead and frame health research.
