Who Tinuke Awe is

Tinuke Awe is co-founder of Five X More CIC, a Community Interest Company incorporated in June 2020 and registered in London, which campaigns to improve maternal health outcomes for Black women and birthing people in the UK. She co-founded the organisation in 2019 alongside Clotilde Abe after research documented that Black women were significantly more likely to die during pregnancy and childbirth than white women. Five X More launched the UK's first Black Maternal Health Awareness Week in 2020 and has led parliamentary lobbying, professional training, and original research, including nationwide Black Maternity Experiences surveys. Awe gave a TEDxLondon talk in January 2025 and has been quoted extensively in national media calling for structural reform of maternity services and for government to set explicit targets to close the maternal mortality gap. She also founded Mums & Tea, a community platform connecting Black mothers, and holds a first-class honours degree in psychology.
