Biography

Dr Alastair Miller (MA FRCP FRCP(Edin) DTM&H) is a semi-retired infectious diseases physician who trained at St John's College, Cambridge and Westminster Hospital, subsequently serving in the Royal Naval Medical Service before holding NHS consultant posts in the West Midlands. From 2004 he was a Consultant Physician in the Tropical & Infectious Disease Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, and he holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship at the University of Liverpool's Institute of Infection & Global Health. He was Clinical Lead at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital CFS service from 2006 to 2014, and chaired the British Association for CFS and ME (BACME) from 2013 to 2016, having previously served as Principal Medical Adviser to Action for ME from 2010 to 2016. He has been quoted in the UK press on ME/CFS clinical management, the NICE guideline review process, and the relationship between post-viral syndromes and Long Covid.
