Biography

Helen Knight is Director of Medicines Evaluation at NICE, responsible for designing and operating methods and systems to produce national guidance and other advice on medicines and other relevant therapies for the NHS in England. She holds an academic background in biochemistry and health economics, and has over 20 years of experience in health technology assessment across a wide range of technologies and disease areas. Before joining NICE in the Technology Appraisal Programme in 2007, she spent six years working as a health economist for a health outcomes consultancy. She has provided witness statements to the UK COVID-19 Public Inquiry on behalf of NICE, covering NICE's pandemic response. She is regularly quoted in the UK press on major medicines appraisal decisions, including NICE guidance on semaglutide for weight management and cardiovascular risk reduction.
