Biography

Dr Sue Mann is the National Clinical Director for Women's Health at NHS England and a Consultant in Women's Health at Homerton University Hospital, City and Hackney, North East London. Appointed in April 2024 as the first person to hold the national role, she leads implementation of the Women's Health Strategy and the rollout of women's health hubs across England. She also works to establish a network of Women's Health Champions drawn from senior leaders in every local care system. Her academic background includes a National Institute for Health and Care Research Fellowship in Knowledge Mobilisation, which underpins her focus on evidence-based and data-driven approaches to healthcare improvement. Before her national appointment she spearheaded the development of Women's Health Hubs in City and Hackney and piloted Virtual Group Consultations for common women's health problems, both of which were incorporated into the national Women's Health Strategy. She has argued publicly that parts of the health system remain trapped in outdated thinking on women's health and that too many women are still dismissed for serious symptoms.
