Biography

Mr David Moore is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Children's Health Ireland (CHI), practising primarily at CHI at Crumlin, and serves as Head of CHI's Spinal Surgery Management Unit, a role established when the unit was created in February 2024. He graduated from University College Dublin in 1981, completed Irish Trauma and Orthopaedic training in 1991, and undertook paediatric orthopaedic fellowship training at Gillette Children's Hospital (University of Minnesota affiliate) in St Paul and a spinal surgery fellowship at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham. He was appointed Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1993, specialising in spinal deformity surgery, limb lengthening and reconstruction, and joint replacement in both adults and children. In his unit leadership role he has been the principal public spokesperson on CHI's efforts to reduce paediatric spinal surgery waiting lists, including the introduction of overseas treatment options in London and New York for clinically suitable patients.
