Biography
Dr Dora-Olivia Vicol is the Chief Executive and co-founder of the Work Rights Centre, a registered charity (No. 1165419) that supports migrants and disadvantaged Britons to access employment justice and improve their social mobility. She co-founded the organisation in 2016 as a small volunteer project based out of Wembley Library and has since led its growth into a charity providing free legal advice, research, and parliamentary advocacy on employment and immigration rights. A trained anthropologist, she holds a PhD from the University of Oxford, where she conducted ethnographic research on Romanian migrants in precarious employment in London. In health and social care contexts she is known for arguing that the UK's visa sponsorship system, which ties migrant care workers to individual employers, exposes them to exploitation, and has called publicly for a compensation scheme for workers abandoned by rogue care providers. In 2026 she was appointed to the advisory board of the Fair Work Agency, the government's new unified employment-rights enforcement body.
