Biography

Dr Jeanette Dickson MBChB MSc MD FRCR FRCP is a consultant clinical oncologist at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, where she has worked since qualifying in 2002, specialising in the multimodality management of thoracic malignancies. She was elected Chair of Council of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges in July 2023, serving a three-year term overseeing the body that coordinates the UK and Ireland's medical royal colleges and faculties on standards, education, and health policy; Tim Mitchell was elected as her successor in 2026. She previously served as President of the Royal College of Radiologists from 2019 to 2022, and as Vice Chair of the Academy with responsibility for the education portfolio from July 2020 to August 2022. In her public commentary she has advocated for NHS workforce sustainability, raised concerns about the perception of the UK as unwelcoming to overseas doctors, and called for long-overdue investment in primary and community care.
