Biography

Joseph Carter is Head of Scotland at Asthma + Lung UK (formally the Asthma UK and British Lung Foundation partnership), the UK's leading lung health charity. In this role he leads external affairs and communications for the organisation across Scotland, and also covers Northern Ireland and Wales as Head of Devolved Nations. He has worked in public affairs in the health sector for 15 years, engaging with governments, parliamentarians and health bodies to prioritise lung health and tackle air pollution. He chairs Healthy Air Cymru and Healthy Air Northern Ireland, and represents Asthma + Lung UK in a range of coalitions across the devolved nations. Carter is regularly quoted in Scottish media arguing that lung conditions are underfunded relative to other major illnesses and calling on the Scottish Government to fully implement its Respiratory Care Action Plan.
