Who Dr Ron Daniels is

Dr Ron Daniels BEM is the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of the UK Sepsis Trust, a registered charity, and serves concurrently as an NHS Consultant in Intensive Care at University Hospitals Birmingham. He co-developed the Sepsis Six care bundle, a six-step treatment protocol now endorsed by NICE and used in 96% of British hospitals and in dozens of countries worldwide. He founded the UK Sepsis Trust in 2012 and, in his role there, provides clinical advice to NHS England, the Department of Health, and to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. He is Vice President of the Global Sepsis Alliance and was part of the team instrumental in securing the adoption of the WHO's 2017 Resolution on Sepsis. He has lobbied successive UK governments on sepsis care, contributing to the announcement of a resourced national sepsis programme in 2015 and, most recently, welcoming the publication of the NHS Modern Service Framework for Sepsis in July 2026. In 2016 he was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to patients.
