MPs and peers debate infant mortality, health inequalities and how visible children are in NHS law

On the Infants, Parents and Carers Bill, Dr Allison Gardner (4 September and 14 October) and Iqbal Mohamed (4 September) pointed to infant mortality gaps by place and ethnicity. Gardner cited Stoke-on-Trent's rate of 7.6 deaths per 1,000 live births and argued for an amendment on regional differences. Jess Asato said making equality explicit would make the legislation harder to undo.

On 21 October, Helen Maguire and James Naish cited hospital data on children injured in e-scooter incidents and called for action.
