Who Simon Dixon is
Simon Dixon is Professor of Health Economics at the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR), University of Sheffield, where he is a member of the Health Economics and Decision Science (HEDS) section. His research concentrates on developing and applying methods for economic evaluation alongside controlled trials, with a particular focus on pre-hospital and emergency care, as well as the measurement and valuation of healthcare benefits. He teaches economic evaluation methods on the MSc in International Health Technology Assessment, Pricing and Reimbursement and the Masters in Public Health programmes at Sheffield. Dixon is also an Honorary Professor in the Priority Cost Effective Lessons for Systems Strengthening (PRICELESS) programme at the School of Public Health, University of Witwatersrand. He has published widely on cost-effectiveness analysis in areas including urgent care, digital health in care homes, bladder cancer surgery, and diabetes management, and has spoken at international forums including the 2019 UK-China Health and Economy Partnership in Beijing.
