Who Dr Alison Wright is

Dr Alison Wright is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based in London, working in the NHS at the Royal Free London hospital and privately at the HCA Portland Hospital. She became President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in December 2025, having been elected in June 2025, making her the 33rd President of the College. As a former Vice President of the RCOG, she founded and led the 'Supporting Our Doctors' programme and helped develop the College's Green-top clinical guidelines. She subsequently served as National Specialty Adviser in Obstetrics for NHS England, leading on personalised care and informed choice in maternity services, and succeeded Baroness Cumberlege as Chair of NHS England's maternity and neonatal Stakeholder Council. She is a prominent advocate for tackling the gynaecology waiting list crisis and expanding Women's Health Hubs, and she advises WHO and FIGO on post-partum haemorrhage and global women's health.
