Biography

Amy Rylance is Director of Health Services, Equity & Improvement at Prostate Cancer UK, the UK's largest men's health charity, headquartered at The Counting House, 53 Tooley Street, London. She began her career working with people with learning disabilities and mental health issues, before taking a role across Bradford District focused on reducing health inequalities, where she established social prescribing in primary care and a supported hospital discharge service. She subsequently joined Diabetes UK as Head of Healthcare Engagement and Development, working nationally on clinical education and service improvement, before joining Prostate Cancer UK in 2019. At Prostate Cancer UK she has led clinical-skills education programmes, co-authored journal pieces on the evidence base, and led the charity's risk awareness work since 2021, including a joint campaign with the NHS through which over 4 million men have completed the online risk checker. She is publicly known for arguing that NHS primary care guidelines preventing GPs from proactively discussing prostate cancer risk are outdated and that persistent health inequalities for Black men — who are twice as likely to be diagnosed and twice as likely to die from the disease — demand urgent policy action.
