Biography

Chiara De Biase is the Interim Fundraising and Health Strategy Director at Prostate Cancer UK, a registered charity focused on prostate cancer research, awareness, and support. She joined the charity in September 2021 as Director of Health Services, Equity & Improvement, with her remit covering NHS clinical education, health information, policy influencing, peer support, racial equity in healthcare, and the specialist nurses helpline; she also serves as the charity's media spokesperson and safeguarding lead. Before joining Prostate Cancer UK, she was Director of Patient Services at Anthony Nolan for nine years, building new services for patients and healthcare professionals in blood cancer and stem cell transplant. As a clinician, she was a specialist physiotherapist in cancer and palliative care on the oncology wards at St Bartholomew's Hospital, and subsequently managed the Macmillan Information and Support Centre at King's College Hospital, where she was involved in research with the Cicely Saunders Institute of Palliative Care. She has been a Non-executive Director at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust since November 2022, and is a clinical trustee for Candlelighters, a Yorkshire children's cancer charity. She is publicly known for arguing that prostate cancer diagnosis inequities — including regional and deprivation-related disparities — require an urgent national early-detection programme.
