Biography

Douglas Twenefour is a Specialist Dietitian with over 15 years of clinical experience who serves as Head of Clinical at Diabetes UK, the UK's leading diabetes patient, healthcare professional and research charity. He is also an Associate Lecturer at London Metropolitan University. Twenefour co-chaired the 2018 Diabetes UK nutrition guidelines working group and served as co-chair of the SACN joint working group investigating lower carbohydrate diets for adults with type 2 diabetes. He was a member of the international expert group convened by the American Diabetes Association that produced the consensus report on the definition and interpretation of remission in type 2 diabetes, published across four major journals in 2021. He is regularly quoted in UK press on diabetes treatment access, NICE guidance, and the clinical management of type 2 diabetes.
