Biography

Dr Manjeet Shehmar is Medical Director at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH), a post she took up on 1 July 2024, and continues to practise clinically as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 1998 and previously served as Chief Medical Officer at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, having joined that trust in 2019 as Deputy Medical Director. Before Walsall she was Clinical Director for Gynaecology, Theatres and Fertility at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, where she was also involved in setting up the Tommy's Miscarriage Research Centre. She has held national roles with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and served as a Trustee and patient advocate for the Pregnancy Sickness Society. She has been quoted in the national press on patient safety and organisational governance matters at NUH.
