Biography

Dr Becks Fisher is Director of Research and Policy at the Nuffield Trust, an independent health think tank, having taken up the post in July 2024. She is also a practising salaried GP working in a deprived urban area. She trained in medicine at the University of Cambridge, graduating with the Roger Morris Prize for medicine and surgery, and subsequently held an academic clinical fellowship at the University of Oxford. She spent 2022–23 as a UK Harkness Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, researching the organisation and management of primary care, and has since been appointed Honorary Professor of Public Policy and Primary Care at Queen Mary University of London's Wolfson Institute of Population Health. She is known for her work on equitable provision of primary care, GP funding and workforce policy, and is co-founder of Next Generation GP, a national leadership programme for early-career GPs.
