Biography
Dr Anastasia Chalkidou is the Programme Director for HealthTech at NICE, where she leads the guidance delivery programme for health technologies including medical devices, diagnostics, and digital health tools. Before joining NICE, she was Associate Director for the King's Technology Evaluation Centre (KiTEC) and a Senior Research Fellow in Health Technology Assessment at King's College London, with a focus on complex interventions, medical devices, and digital health technologies. She has led numerous national and hospital-based HTA projects and has provided consultancy to MedTech companies on evidence generation strategies. She is a co-investigator on ASSESS-DHT, a European initiative for HTA of digital health technologies. Her career began in clinical oncology; she holds a medical degree (2004), an MSc in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, a PhD in the validation of PET biomarkers in oncology, and an MA in Higher Education Practice. She has been publicly quoted on NICE guidance recommending digital health tools, including on reducing health inequalities through digital technology access.
