Biography
Josh Wood is a British hair colourist and salon owner who serves as Vice-Chair of the British Beauty Council. He began his career at 17 through a Youth Training Scheme, going on to work in Vidal Sassoon salons in Leeds, London, and New York. In 2011 he opened Josh Wood Atelier in Holland Park, west London, and in 2019 co-founded Josh Wood Colour, a range of vegan-friendly, ammonia-free home hair colour products. He has served on the British Beauty Council's Executive Board since April 2020 and was appointed Vice-Chair in July 2025. In health and wellbeing advocacy, he has argued publicly that hairdressers occupy a frontline role in supporting mental health, that salon visits address loneliness and anxiety, and that personal care services deserve recognition as a component of public wellbeing policy.
