Biography

Dr Luisa Pettigrew is a General Practitioner and Senior Policy Fellow at The Health Foundation, where she works on primary care policy and research. She is also an honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Health Services Research and Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). She has been a practising GP since 2008, holds a master's degree in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing, and her PhD examines the role of inspections in general practice and their impact on quality. She has worked on research and policy projects on health systems financing, organisational models of general practice, and healthcare professional behaviour change with organisations including the World Health Organisation, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Nuffield Trust. She is known for arguing that general practice funding has not kept pace with the role successive governments have expected it to play, and that a clear, multi-year commitment to increasing investment is needed if neighbourhood health ambitions are to be realised.
