Arlene Maltman was first elected to the States Assembly in June 2026 as Deputy for St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter. She sits as a back-bench member this term, and has served on the Environment, Housing and Infrastructure Scrutiny Panel, the Planning Committee, and as a States Commissioner on the Jersey Overseas Aid Commission.
Her 2026 campaign focused on housing, rural connectivity, parish identity and opportunity for young Islanders. She pledged to support the building of affordable homes designed sensitively for the rural landscape, and to push for planning processes to be made simpler and faster for individuals and small businesses. She committed to campaigning for a hopper bus linking the three parishes and for expanded cycle paths to ease commuting. She also pledged to work alongside the Connétables to ensure the parish and honorary system has a clear voice in the States Assembly, and to campaign for digital and financial skills to be taught in Jersey schools and for action to close the gender pay gap and widen opportunities for women.
Before entering politics, Maltman pursued a career as a competitive surfer, winning a European Championship title. She subsequently studied Communication Studies in California and worked in marketing in New York and Boston before returning to Jersey to work in the local private and public sectors.
