Kirsten Francis Morel

Kirsten Morel was first elected to the States Assembly in 2018 as Deputy of St Lawrence. Following boundary changes, he has represented St John, St Lawrence and Trinity since 2022 and was re-elected to that seat in 2026. Earlier in his service he chaired the Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel from 2018 to 2020, served as Assistant Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture from 2020 to 2022, and was appointed Deputy Chief Minister in 2022. He held the office of Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture from 2022 to 2023, then Minister for Sustainable Economic Development from 2023 to 2026. In the current Assembly he serves as Assistant Minister for the Environment, and sits on the Privileges and Procedures Committee and the Bailiff's Consultative Panel.

For the 2026 election Morel campaigned on themes of economic opportunity, public services and environmental improvement. His specific pledges included growing and diversifying the economy to fund healthcare and retain younger islanders, expanding mental health provision to meet rising demand, and building a Jersey-focused education system offering lifelong learning. He also committed to reducing dependence on oil and improving the island's environment, strengthening trade and cultural links with France and Europe, and pursuing a more efficient, digitally enabled public service with improved data management and online safety measures.
