Ferey did achieve a ministerial role during the 2022–2026 term — specifically as Assistant Minister for Social Security (from 19 July 2022 to 30 January 2024), which closely matched his stated preference. However, he was never appointed as the full Minister for Social Security (that portfolio was held by Elaine Millar throughout the term), and after the change of government in January 2024 he moved to roles as Assistant Chief Minister, Assistant Minister for Children and Families, and Assistant Minister for Sustainable Economic Development — no longer connected to Social Security. His promise to seek a Ministry with Social Security as first choice was thus partially fulfilled: he obtained a relevant assistant minister post in that department early in the term, but not the full ministerial role he aspired to.
