Samantha Gleave was first elected to the States Assembly in June 2026 as Deputy for St Helier South. Since 2026 she has served as Chair of the Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel and as a member of the Planning Committee.
Her campaign centred on making Jersey more affordable and its government more effective. Specific pledges included reducing the cost of living by encouraging greater market competition, cutting government costs through waste reduction and service modernisation, and removing regulatory barriers to lower the cost of doing business. She also committed to making government services easier for residents and businesses to navigate, and to planning for an ageing population through retirement communities and better support for carers. Within St Helier South she pledged practical solutions to the parking shortage, improvements to the bus service, and ensuring that major decisions such as school relocations are subject to proper consultation with residents.
Gleave spent over thirty years working as a business strategist before entering politics, focusing on improving products and services and developing economically realistic solutions. Before that career she worked briefly in advertising following her graduation. She has also been involved in community initiatives, including co-founding Jersey Youth Performing Arts and supporting those affected by dementia and severe mental illness.
