Income and spending of the Long-term Care Insurance Fund, which pays towards care-home fees, from 2016 to 2026 and before investment returns. Income is above spending in every year shown. Over 2016 to 2025 income grew 111.9% and spending 59.4%.
Read this with the chart: Before investment returns; spending includes administration. 2016 and 2017 come from policy letter P.2019/94, 2018 from P.2021/108, 2019 and 2020 from P.2022/80 (which restates the earlier figures), and 2021 to 2026 from P.2024/78 and P.2025/113. 2025 is a forecast and 2026 a budget in the latest letter; the Budget 2027 report has later numbers for both. The jump in 2017 followed an increase in contributions to extend the scheme. The axis starts at zero.
