Freelance Journalist – Website Copywriter
We are looking for a trained journalist to write and refine copy for the Bridgehead website, plus ongoing content, on a freelance day-rate basis.
About the role
Bridgehead works exclusively in sectors where communications is regulated, contested and consequential: healthcare, care, education, corporate and public affairs. We are looking for a trained journalist to work with us on a freelance, ongoing basis writing and refining copy across the Bridgehead website and our regular content output. This is not a generalist copywriting brief: we need someone with a journalist's ear for a clear, credible sentence and the judgement to write with authority about complex, regulated sectors.
Key responsibilities
- Write and edit core website copy: service pages, case studies and positioning content
- Draft ongoing content pieces (Insights, thought-leadership, sector commentary)
- Work from briefs and existing source material to produce polished, publication-ready copy
- Maintain a consistent editorial voice across the site and content output
- Turn around drafts to agreed deadlines, with minimal need for rewriting
Requirements
- Trained journalist with a demonstrable track record of published work
- Excellent, clean, precise written English
- Comfortable writing about regulated or technical sectors (health, care, corporate, public affairs)
- Able to work independently from a brief and hit deadlines
Desirable but not required
- Experience in healthcare, social care, education or public affairs journalism
- Experience writing for B2B or corporate websites

Life at Bridgehead
A small team. Serious work.
Senior-led from day one
You will work directly alongside partners with deep sector expertise, not spend years waiting for the work to reach you.
Consequential briefs
Our clients operate where reputation matters most: the NHS, Parliament, regulated care, corporate governance. The work has weight.
No account teams
We do not run layers of account management. You will own relationships, produce the work and see it land.
Growth that is earned
Progression is tied to impact, not tenure. If your work is driving results, we will reflect that quickly.
A small, high-calibre team
We keep the team deliberately small so that every person is a senior contributor. You will not be lost in headcount.
