Guernsey's secondary education rebuild, approved four times

Successive headline capital figures for the reorganisation of Guernsey's secondary and post-16 estate after the States voted to end selection at 11. Each replaced the one before it against a changed scope: the £157.3m approved in 2019 was paused by requete in March 2020 and never built. The figures are a sequence, not a ledger, and must not be added.

SupersededCurrent authority

Read this with the chart: These bars are a sequence, not a ledger, and summing them would produce a number roughly four times anything Guernsey could have spent. Each headline replaced the one before it against a changed scope: the 2019 one-school-on-two-sites model was approved at £157.3m, paused by requete in March 2020 and abandoned with nothing built to that design; the 2024 authority covers The Guernsey Institute and Les Varendes but not the Sixth Form Centre, which remains unfunded and unbuilt. All are approvals or estimates. Guernsey has published no outturn for the programme.
