AN INDEPENDENT RECORD OF EVERY PROMISE MADE IN THE STATES OF GUERNSEY

Island FM reaches 31,000 people a week — 53% of the island’s adult population — 2.2× BBC Radio Guernsey’s audience. That comparison is the one figure on this page two outlets are measured on the same, independent basis; everything else below is a publisher’s own stated figure, not an independent audit.
The only independently measured figures here
Weekly reach, market share and average listening hours, 12 months to March 2025. Both stations are measured the same way over the same period, so this pair is directly comparable in a way nothing else on this page is.
| Station | Weekly reach | % of adults | Share of listening | Avg hours/week |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Island FM | 31,000 | 53.0% | 40.2% | 13.1 |
| BBC Radio Guernsey | 14,000 | 25.0% | 9.7% | 6.8 |
Island FM’s 40.2% share is, per its own release, the largest of any station — BBC or commercial — anywhere in the British Isles. BBC Radio Guernsey carries the rest of its airtime as programming shared with BBC Radio Jersey and, off-peak, BBC Radio Cornwall, Manchester and London.
Two preceding Island FM releases, for context on the trend rather than a single-quarter reading: 6 Feb 2025: 29,000 listeners, 39.1% share; 15 May 2025: 31,000 listeners, 40.2% share. Island FM / Tindle Radio, "More listeners, listening for longer: Island FM sees big jumps in new RAJAR figures" (15 May 2025) - RAJAR, 12 months to March 2025; Island FM, "Island FM remains Guernsey's favourite radio station" (6 Feb 2025) - prior RAJAR release
Publisher-stated, not independently audited
Neither outlet below has a current independent circulation or readership audit. What follows is each publisher's own stated figure, dated where a date is available.
Guernsey Press
56%of adults read it every day
82%read it (print or online) at least weekly
Stated by the Guernsey Press itself, with no survey name, methodology or date attached. The last independently audited (ABC) print circulation is 15,165 copies/day (Dec 2010 – Jun 2011) — now 15 years old, and the paper does not appear in current ABC regional-daily rankings, so no independent audit has been publicly reported since.
Guernsey Press, "Publications" (guernseypress.com/p/publications) - publisher-stated readership; Guernsey Press, Wikipedia - last independently audited (ABC) circulation, Dec 2010–Jun 2011
Bailiwick Express (Guernsey edition)
26,000free print copies delivered weekly
Delivered to residential addresses via Guernsey Post since launch in March 2019 — a distribution figure (copies sent), not a measured readership, and now over six years old. No current independent or self-reported digital readership figure (unique users, page views) for the Guernsey edition is publicly available; Bailiwick Express’s own advertising pages describe a subscriber database without stating its size.
Both Bailiwicks combined, not Guernsey alone
ITV Channel runs as a single regional franchise across Jersey and Guernsey together and does not publish a Guernsey-only audience figure, so the numbers below cover both islands.
160,000potential audience across both Bailiwicks
5hours of original TV produced a week
ITV Channel also states it has “at times” had more than two million website visits in a month — its own wording for a stated peak, not a monthly average, kept here as a direct quote for that reason. Both figures are ITV Channel’s own, the only place a figure could be found at all; no independent viewing audit (BARB does not cover the Channel Islands) is publicly available.
ITV Channel Television, Jersey Skills Show exhibitor page - self-stated audience and reach
Other Guernsey outlets — Channel Eye, plus each outlet’s own social channels — publish no independent or self-reported audience figures, so are not listed with a number here rather than represented by a follower count standing in for one.
