Guernsey only, throughout: Alderney is reported in its own separate table in every annual report and never folded into these totals. Two methodology breaks, both explicit in the source documents and both marked on the chart: in 2018 Law Enforcement “fully adopted the UK National Crime Recording Standard and Home Office Counting Rules”, which brought in incidents that would not previously have been recorded as crimes, so figures either side of 2018 are not like-for-like; from 2021, offences investigated by the Guernsey Border Agency are also folded into the total (81 of them in 2024, the only year that split is published), while some drug offences moved the other way — out of Guernsey Police’s own figures. No source publishes a rate per population for Guernsey at any point in this series — every figure above is a raw count, against a population that grew over the same period.
