BIOGRAPHY

Jeremy Richardson is chief executive of Avery Healthcare Group, a role he took on 9 September 2024 when he succeeded Lorna Rose. Avery was founded in 2005 by John Strowbridge and Ian Matthews. After its purchase of Artisan Care Group in August 2025 it owned and operated 106 homes with 8,614 beds, and David Reuben Jr of Reuben Brothers is its majority shareholder.

Richardson came to care from hospitality in 2014. He began in venture capital at NatWest Ventures (now Bridgepoint), worked as a consultant at Bain & Company, and took an MBA at INSEAD in 1996. He then ran business development and strategy at Welcome Break. In 2001 he started Kew Green Hotels with a colleague and led it as chief executive until 2010. The Leaders Club reports that the business, a multi-brand hotel franchisee, was later sold to HK CTS Metropark Hotels for more than £400m. From 2010 to 2013 he sat on the main board of Bourne Leisure with operational responsibility for Haven Holidays, and in 2013 he was executive chairman of Menzies Hotels, where he led the sale of the group.

He became chief executive of brighterkind in May 2014 and chief executive of the whole Four Seasons Health Care Group in December 2019. In July 2020 he wrote on the Department of Health and Social Care's social care blog about Four Seasons taking part in a study, run with the department, University College London and NHS Data Foundry, of how coronavirus outbreaks develop in care homes. Four Seasons announced his resignation in February 2022, and he left at the end of March. He ran Runwood Homes from July 2022 to May 2023.

Richardson has been a non-executive director of the Goodwood Estate since 2008 and is the estate's senior non-executive director. He chairs the Real Good Dental Group and sits on the advisory council of the Social Care Foundation. Avery named him a finalist in the Social Care Top 30 Awards 2025. In October 2025 he took part in the Social Care CEO Panel at the Healthcare Summit, and in 2026 he joined the judging panel for Care Sector's Got Talent.
