PR Consultant – Healthcare & Care

A mid-level role for an experienced communications professional ready to run accounts for healthcare providers, care operators and health-tech companies.

About the role

We are looking for a PR Consultant to join our healthcare and social care practice. You will manage a portfolio of accounts independently, from care home groups and NHS bodies to health-tech scale-ups and professional bodies. This is a writing-led role: the ability to generate strong press coverage, place thought-leadership commentary and handle stakeholder communications is essential. You will have some experience in a PR or communications role and a genuine interest in health and care policy.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day account management for a portfolio of healthcare and care clients
  • Generate consistent national and trade press coverage across print, broadcast and digital
  • Develop and place thought-leadership commentary with key journalists and editors
  • Write press releases, briefing documents, speeches and op-eds to a high standard
  • Monitor the health and care policy environment and brief clients on relevant developments
  • Support new business pitches and contribute to agency growth

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in PR, communications or journalism
  • Demonstrable track record of securing media coverage at national or trade level
  • Strong writing skills across multiple formats — press releases, editorial, commentary
  • Ability to manage multiple client relationships and deadlines simultaneously
  • Confidence briefing and presenting to clients at director level

Desirable but not required

  • Experience working in health, care or a regulated sector
  • Existing press contacts in health trade and/or national media
  • Understanding of NHS structures, social care policy or health-tech ecosystem

Life at Bridgehead

A small team. Serious work.

01

Senior-led from day one

You will work directly alongside partners with deep sector expertise — not spend years waiting for the work to reach you.

02

Consequential briefs

Our clients operate where reputation matters most: the NHS, Parliament, regulated care, corporate governance. The work has weight.

03

No account teams

We do not run layers of account management. You will own relationships, produce the work and see it land.

04

Growth that is earned

Progression is tied to impact, not tenure. If your work is driving results, we will reflect that quickly.

05

A small, high-calibre team

We keep the team deliberately small so that every person is a senior contributor. You will not be lost in headcount.
