BIOGRAPHY

Amanda Scott is Chief Executive Officer of Forest Healthcare, which runs 13 care homes in London and the south of England. She has led the group since September 2019.

Scott is a registered nurse with a BSc from the University of Sheffield, and says she has worked in health and social care since 1984. She started in acute hospital nursing, including a post at Grantham and Kesteven District Hospital, and moved into care home management in the mid-1990s as deputy general manager and then general manager at Westminster Healthcare. She later held divisional nursing and director of nursing and quality roles at Ashbourne Healthcare, managed a 50-bed Bupa home in 2006, and took clinical governance and development posts at Craegmoor Healthcare and Avery Healthcare. LaingBuisson billed a 2020 interview with her as covering her journey from care assistant to chief executive.

She joined Sunrise Senior Living in 2011 as care and quality director, with a remit to drive its clinical governance programme. LaingBuisson reported her promotion to managing director of Sunrise UK in December 2013. By 2016 she was managing director of both Sunrise Senior Living and Gracewell Healthcare. In a May 2016 interview with Care Home Professional she described commissioning customer research to decide whether the two brands should stay separate. She became managing director of HC-One in September 2017 and moved to Forest in 2019.

Forest was named a carehome.co.uk Top 20 mid-large care group for the seventh year running in March 2026. In 2025 the group won the company top fundraising award from The Care Workers' Charity, and Scott completed a skydive as part of that effort. She has spoken about the carehome.co.uk ratings on the Care CEO Success Stories podcast and about leadership on the Care Leaders Network Podcast.
