Nicola Coveney is Managing Director of Carebase, which runs 13 nursing, residential and dementia care homes across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, London, Norfolk, Oxfordshire and Surrey. Carebase's website and her own posts describe her as Managing Director rather than Chief Executive.

In a #CareerInCare post shared by Carebase homes, she said she began at the company as a receptionist. Companies House shows her as a director of Carebase Limited since 24 July 2003 and as its company secretary since 7 October 2003. Carebase pages from September 2011 already name her Managing Director.

The company won Care Employer of the Year at the 2014 Great London Care Awards and at the 2015 national Great British Care Awards, the second time it had won the national title. She said at the time that Carebase was "willing to invest heavily" in its staff. Carebase's coronavirus updates page, published in March 2020, is signed by her.
